Community Partnerships
Charles Sturt University
We formed a partnership with our neighbour Charles Sturt University in 2019 with a view to support Orientation Week through offers as well as seek other opportunities to support individual departments within the university.
In 2020, we partnered specifically with the Creative Arts and Design faculty to bring a student exhibition to the centre as part of the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council run Artwalk event. Students were able to display their final art projects and auction these off for charity. In all, $1250 was raised for the Liberty Domestic and Family Violence Services.
We continue to work closely with Charles Sturt University including giving work to arts and design interns and working on aligned local events.
Port Macquarie/Hastings Council - Destination Brand Panel
As part of the reinvigoration of the Port Macquarie region, the centre plays an active role as part of the workshops to position the destination as a top tourist destination.
This collaborative work is ongoing and promises to celebrate the best the region has to offer.
Community Involvement
Little Blue Dinosaur
Since 2018 Lake Innes Village has build a partnership with The Little Blue Dinosaur Campaign to spread the message on the importance of holding children’s hands around roads
The Little Blue Dinosaur was created in the memory of Tom who was a vibrant and loving young boy with a zest for life and an unforgettable smile, and he continues to be a powerful motivator of the foundation every day, with the drawing of blue dinosaurs that he loved to do so much becoming the logo for his foundation. The tragic loss of Tom in a pedestrian road accident on the Central Coast in 2014 motivated us to establish the Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation (LBD), ensuring the promising legacy we saw in Tom’s young life is realised through child road safety initiatives and education.
The Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation is a voice for children. It is Tom’s voice. A clear, determined and passionate voice that speaks to children, for children and their safety. Tom’s message “Slow down; kids around” is an essential one that must be heard in every street, city and town. The work of the Foundation is Tom's legacy and a single life saved through education and awareness raised in his name is an objective we are all very proud to strive for.
